Key Stage 4 Revision Strategies (Years 10 and 11)

Please use the resources below, which have been designed to help you access our digital learning platforms and aid your revision.

How Do I Revise?

There are 3 areas to revision. These are:

  1. Learning the content
  2. Practising the skills
  3. Checking your understanding

What Does This Mean?

  • Content – tasks that involve you understanding the key information that you need for each subject. For example, creating flashcards and testing yourself on the key information
  • Skills – tasks that involve you putting this knowledge into place by developing your exam skills. For example, completing a practice paper
  • Checking – tasks that involve you testing how well you can put your knowledge and skills into place. For example, using a mark scheme to mark your paper

How Do We Do This?

You first need to create a timetable of subjects and topics. You should be aiming to complete 2 hours of revision a day (recommended by the government) and this should be split into 30 minute chunks. You should aim to cover all subject within the week. A sample timetable is below:

Revision timetable example

Once you have completed your timetable, you should decide upon the topics you will revise each week, blending both content, skills and checking. These should be tasks you can complete in 25 minutes, with a 5 minute break in between.
