Revision Strategies

Our subject specialist teachers have put together some practical tips and guidance to help you get the most out of your revision time. Please use the menu to locate specific materials.

Year 11 Homework

We have designed both a timetable and precise revision tasks for students to complete on a weekly basis. This will be published every Monday.

Why Have We Moved to a Set Timetable?

Lots of students raise concerns that they have too much content to learn and remember and they don’t know where to start. This timetable removes the worry about which subjects and which knowledge to prioritise. It also makes sure students focus on all subjects and not just their favourites. We have also made sure that students are focusing on learning both the knowledge and practising their exam skills.

How Should They Use This Timetable?

We have created this with our students’ wellbeing in mind. Two hours of revision a night is what the government recommends, it also means they still have time to do other activities. The timetable will remain the same each week, but the tasks will change. Each evening, they will have 4 tasks to complete. Each task should be completed in 25 minutes without distraction. This means no devices such as mobile phones. They can then have a five-minute break in between each task. At the weekend, there is a longer task to complete for English and Maths where students can practise their exam skills.

How Does This Also Benefit Parents?

Many parents ask us how they can help to support their children at home. Some are worried that they do not have all of the subject specific knowledge to be able to help their children. Some worry how to check that their children have done their homework and revision. This strategy is designed not only to support students, but to allow parents a clearer understanding of the expectations of their child each week. This link will be text to you each week. Please support your child with completing the activities.
