Student Leadership
Student Leadership at WRHS – Investing in tomorrow’s leaders.
The school’s leadership programme builds the necessary skills, confidence and motivation to engage directly in the wider improvement of our school and most importantly our students learning experience.
Our student leaders are at the heart of building the WRHS ethos and our sense of community and Trust.
WRHS Student Leadership Programme
Our Senior Student Leadership Team (SSLT) is made up of Year 11 students who have been selected through an application and interview process. Once selected they are given the opportunity and responsibility on leading on self-directed projects within the school as well as being important ambassadors for WRHS in the community.
Each year group has its own Student Leaders that have been selected by year teams. We expect our Student Leaders to represent our WRHS values at all times.
In addition we recognise and encourage leadership through our varied Extended Leadership groups. These aim to give safe spaces for students to discuss issues of relevance to them and promote marginalised voices within the school. These groups include, LGBT leaders, Environmental Leaders, Anti-Bullying Ambassadors, Sports Leaders, Faculty Leaders and a range of Form time leaders.
SSAT Student Leadership Accreditation
Through Student Leadership roles, students are able to build a portfolio of evidence to contribute towards 10 leadership skills. for each skill students can achieve bronze, silver or gold levels. This is a very prestigious award and these are presented at the end of the academic year.
