Sixth Form Community Iftar 2026 ( Published: 10/03/2026)
On Thursday 5th March 2026, our Sixth Form came together for a powerful evening of solidarity, reflection, and community spirit at our annual Sixth Form Iftar. Organised by our dedicated Sixth Form Student Union and coordinated by Mrs Abdul Salam, the event once again showcased the compassion, leadership, and teamwork that define our school community.
This year’s Iftar brought together students, staff and their families, to share a meal at sunset, marking the breaking of the fast during Ramadan. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, with attendees coming together not only to celebrate an important moment in the Islamic calendar, but also to support a vital humanitarian cause.
A highlight of the evening was the much anticipated quiz, created and hosted by students. The competition was friendly but fierce – and, for the second year running, a staff team took the win, sparking plenty of good natured laughter and renewed determination from students hoping to reclaim the trophy next year.
Thanks to the generosity of everyone who attended, and the hard work of the Student Union and Mrs Abdul Salam – the event raised an impressive £442.96 for the UNICEF Children in Gaza Crisis Appeal. This contribution will go toward providing life saving support, including safe water, medical care, and emergency supplies for children affected by the crisis.
Assistant Headteacher and Head of Sixth Form, Mr Mycock, praised the students and staff involved:
Our Sixth Formers continue to demonstrate incredible empathy and initiative. This event wasn’t just about sharing a meal – it was about coming together as a community to make a meaningful difference.
The annual Iftar has become a cherished tradition within the school, bringing together the Sixth Form and wider community year after year. This year’s success stands as a testament to the compassion and unity of our students and staff, who continue to model the values that sit at the heart of our school.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who attended, contributed, and supported the event. Most importantly, we congratulate the Sixth Form Student Union and Mrs Abdul Salam for their outstanding leadership and commitment to helping others.
Together, we proved once again that small acts – shared by many – can make a real impact.
