National Qualifications
This Girl Can
This is a national programme developed by Sport England and a wide range of partnership organisations, which encourage women to celebrate being active. The students will participate in a range of different activities that they may have not heard of before such as Boxercise, Pilates and Taekwondo, which are delivered by external coaches. These activities give the students the opportunity to learn a different sport and create an environment where they can have fun and become fit and healthy at the same time.
Be the Best
This is based around the British Heart Foundation. The students will take part in some of their fund-raising activities such as the jump rope challenge and ultimate dodgeball. Alongside these activities, the students gather knowledge of the foundation such as what is heart disease and ways to prevent this in the future. With the ethos being ‘be the best’, students also take part in activities such as Lacrosse (external coach) and Cricket where they can strive in succeeding and again promoting a can-do approach.
Dove Self-Esteem Project
This is project is based around helping our girls build positive body confidence and self-esteem in them. The students will complete a series of lessons where they learn about appearance ideals, body talk and the positive and negatives of media messages. Through these lessons, the students will also take part in lessons such as Gymnastics and Trampolining, these are lessons that we have identified students see in a negative light due to body confidence, therefore this is now seen as a celebration.
