Learning Resource Centre
The LRC (Learning Resource Centre) drives on the school’s reading priorities and is a very popular space as a result. Excellent facilities and opportunities are available to students.
The LRC (or library) is situated in our state-of-the-art Sixth Form Centre and is available to all of our students. Reading for progress and pleasure is celebrated and students take full advantage of the facilities on offer:
- A computer suite for use before/after school and during breaks and lunchtime
- An extensive catalogue of fiction and non-fiction books (regularly updated with the latest popular releases and series from students’ and staff recommendations), revision guides and textbooks
- Many activities and clubs available, such as book and film clubs
- Willing students can take up roles such as a Student Library Leader and contribute to the running of the centre
- Designated ‘quiet areas’ are available for students who wish to study or read in peace
- Events such as author visits, book sales, book swaps, spelling bees and competitions are frequently organised
- Our LRC Manager, who is available to advise on book choices, make recommendations, and help with reading development
