The ‘Stepping into the Future’ event was organised by Our Futures in conjunction with Manchester Business School, providing 130 Whalley Range students the opportunity to discover a range of exciting pathways available to them post GCSE’s. The sessions included:
- Searching and Applying for College and Employment
- STEM Speed Dating
- Apprenticeships
- Creative and Digital Skills
- College Routes
Anna Browne, CEIAG Manager at Our Futures, said of the day:
This is our third Step into the Future’ event and it’s crucial to prepare our Year 10’s for all the choices they will make in Year 11. We aim to inspire them with a range of professionals from exciting and varied careers, an aspirational venue, ambassadors from the University and up-to-date information about the different paths they can take to achieve a successful career in Manchester.
Students were supported by guides from The University of Manchester, including Whalley Range alumni Areeba. She has just qualified with a master’s degree in Audiology and takes up employment with Central Manchester University Hospital’s Paediatrics department at the end of this month!
We’d like to thank everyone involved for making the day a success and hope that the event can inspire the attendees to choose the right pathway for them.
