What Will I Study?
Pure Maths, including collecting and analysing data and Maths with personal finance.
Statistical Techniques, including critical analysis of data and models, the normal distribution and probability and estimation.
How Will I Be Assessed?
End of Year 12: External examinations: These will consist of two papers, one covering Financial Maths and the other covering Statistical Techniques.
What Could I Do Next?
There are a range of careers that you could go into after having studied Core Maths. The course will help you to gain skills and confidence in applying the maths you may meet in higher education, and/or the workplace. It also develops transferrable skills, such as problem solving and reasoning. Core Maths develops thinking skills and approaches that are highly applicable in the workplace and for life in general.
Subject Specific Entry Requirements
This course is compulsory for Year 12 students who are studying any A-Level Science course (e.g. Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Psychology, Sociology etc.) but are not studying A-Level Maths. A grade 4 in GCSE maths is required.
