Mathematics can lead you onto a wide range of career pathways, including modelling and designing, actuary, financial, banking and meteorology.

What Will I Study?

  • Pure Maths including algebra, trigonometry, calculus and series
  • Statistics – data handling and probability
  • Mechanics – Newton’s laws of motion, variable acceleration and moments

How Will I Be Assessed?

End of Year 12: Internal examinations: These will consist of two papers, one covering Pure Maths & Statistics and the other consisting of Pure Maths & Mechanics.

End of Year 13 A level: Three papers, A Pure Maths paper, A Pure Maths & Mechanics paper and a Pure Maths & Statistics paper.

What Could I Do Next?

There are a range of careers including modelling and designing, actuary, financial, banking and meteorology.

Subject Specific Entry Requirements

GCSE grade 6 in Maths (Grade 5 achieved on the higher paper would be considered.
