Silver DofE Expedition ( Published: 18/10/2022)
Our Year 13 students travelled to Edale in the Peak District to complete their Silver DofE Award. The expedition was for two nights and three days. The first day was an eye opener and really showed the students what DofE was all about. Despite the heavy rain, our Year 13’s were superstars and took it all in their stride.
This group of students showed excellent teamwork and supported each other throughout the whole experience. Students had to walk over 15k each day through tough terrain, cook their own meals and camp out under the stars. All students successfully completed their expedition and demonstrated superb navigation skills. Each student went on their own personal journey, both mentally and physically.
The PE department and the whole school community are really proud of these students, and we can’t wait to see if some of them take on the challenge of completing the Gold DofE Award as well.
The most memorable part of the DofE Silver Expedition was when we walked through heavy rain and got completely soaked. This allowed me to show my resilience as I kept on going even though I was uncomfortable, cold and wet.

The most memorable part of the DofE Silver Expedition was when our group got lost on Lose Hill. We got so tired of going up and down that we just sat on the floor for 20 minutes, trying to figure out where we we’re supposed to go. This allowed us as a group to show our teamwork and communication skills because we eventually found the right way to go and got to our next check point.
