Whalley Range Staff Donate Gifts to the Wood Street Mission Toy Appeal ( Published: 13/12/2019)
Ten large crates of toys/gifts were taken to the charity’s headquarters on Wood Street in Central Manchester along with eighteen large jigsaws/puzzles. Other items donated included Manchester United shirts, football boots, handmade knitted dolls, toiletries, socks, ear phones, make up, toy cars and toiletries.
This year, staff from Whalley Range 11-18 High School decided to donate money (or gifts) rather than send Christmas cards. A fantastic £215 was donated and Mrs Mackenzie went out shopping for items that Wood Street Mission were in greatest need of. With the money raised, footballs, wallets, annuals, wallets, lego, socks, pjs, makeup and Christmas extras such as crackers, biscuits, selection boxes and wrapping paper, were bought to help cater for boys and girls aged 12+ in particular, an age range Wood Street Mission were particularly short on.
I am truly overwhelmed by the gifts and money that have been donated, thank you to everyone who donated money, toys and gifts.
A special thank you to MU Foundation for all their support and Mrs Schenk and the congregation at Sale Moor Methodist Church for their donations of gifts to this appeal.
Wood Street Mission have asked me to pass on their thanks to everyone and wish all staff and students a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
There will now be a lot of children with smiles on their faces on Christmas morning and Parents/Carers who will be forever grateful.
