Designer for the Day ( Published: 30/06/2017)
Here’s what she had to say about her exciting visit:
After visiting the NHS for work experience, I learnt that the NHS has many different jobs. Someone could be a photographer or a graphic designer and work in the NHS. I enjoyed my trip, I had a tour and an introduction to the department. Also I learnt how to use adobe illustrator to design a poster and how it gets printed through an enormous printer.
Graphic designers and photographers in the NHS produce textbooks and magazines, I was shown printed out examples and examples on the computer. I also got to go inside the studio, where they had cameras which can take pictures of cells and molecules. These cameras are used to detect diseases. Also the manager showed me the pieces of medical artwork she has drawn, it was very accurate.
In my opinion being a graphic designer or a photographer in the NHS is a wonderful job as it is a very creative job and the work could be displayed anywhere for people to enjoy.
We would like to thank the design team at University Hospital South Manchester for being so accommodating and the NHS Careers Hub for running the competition for our students, culminating with such a wonderful prize.
