Cross-Trust Poetry Competition: The Results Are In! ( Published: 08/07/2020)

After much deliberation and consultation, the judges at the University of Manchester have now announced the winners of the Cross-Trust Poetry Competition, involving Whalley Range 11-18 High School, Levenshulme High School and The East Manchester Academy.

Now in its fourth year, the cross-Trust Poetry Competition, in collaboration with the University of Manchester, ran from March until July – and even a global pandemic couldn’t stop many of our students getting their creative juices flowing to write a poem focusing on the theme of ‘Climate’.

Students from Year 7 all the way through to Year 10 took part, interpreting the prescribed theme in original and creative ways. As ever, the judges were incredibly impressed with the quality of all the entries and really struggled to narrow down the winners. In the end though, the poems of the following students really stood out and won 1st prize for their year groups:

  • Year 7: Jallah (and OVERALL WINNER)
  • Year 8: Aisha
  • Year 9: Innaya
  • Year 10: Waad

The poems of all the winners can be accessed via the poetry anthology attached.

Well done and thank you to all students who took part!
