Celebrating World Book Day 2016 ( Published: 03/03/2016)
Students got the opportunity to hear from the professional author and ask questions about her life and work as a published writer. They were also offered the opportunity to purchase recent book titles at a reduced price, including her newest title (Broken Sky), which were handed out during a book-signing to finish off the event.
Miss Mason, Teacher of English and event organiser said this:
Today was a wonderful opportunity for the students to meet a successful published author, who has written many of the books they have read and enjoyed over the years. It was a true celebration of World Book Day 2016 and it was absolutely brilliant to see so many students purchasing their own signed copy of Lee’s book. Happy Reading!
There was a special presentation for four Year 9 students who won prizes for blogging at last year’s Manchester Childrens Book Festival. Zainab won first prize (£100 Amazon voucher) for her blog and Taha, Areeba and Atiya came runners up. These students are a credit to the school and were thoroughly deserving of these prizes. The visit to Whalley Range was part of the Trailblazer activity for the Manchester Childrens Book Festival and was a fantastic way to celebrate World Book Day!
We’d like to thank L.A. Weatherly for coming in to see us and we wish her well with her new book release.
