What Will I Study?
You will study an exciting range of texts across three components: drama, prose and poetry. In Year 12, you will explore an anthology of poetry of twenty-first century poetry, the modern classic ‘A Streetcar Named Desire’ and two novels, ‘A Thousand Splendid Suns’ and ‘Wuthering Heights’, centred around the theme of women and society. In Year 13 you will deepen your studies of these three components with a further drama text, Shakespeare’s ‘Othello’ and the life and works of Christina Rossetti.
How Will I Be Assessed?
You will be assessed by two exams in Year 12 and three exams and coursework in Year 13. The coursework is a comparison of two linked novels of your choosing such as comparing dystopian ideas in The Handmaid’s Tale and Brave New World.
