There were activities and competitions aplenty during World Book Day 2023, with both staff and students getting fully involved.

There was a real buzz in the LRC (Learning Resource Centre) on World Book Day. Those who dared to enter the LRC – also known as the Chokey for the day – were greeted by Miss Trunchbull (from Matilda)!

During the day, our Year 7 Craft Club had great fun creating and making their own bespoke bookmarks, and all students took part in a Treasure Hunt organised by Miss Trunchbull (also known as Mrs Davies, LRC Manager). Students had to follow clues around the LRC to find the 8 book characters that would be filling the 8 seats available around the dining table. This created lots of conversations about various books, the characters in them, and different genres.

At the end of the day, Miss Trunchbull was very tired but also very happy, about how the day had gone.

Thanks to Read Manchester, Marcus Rashford books were also distributed to selected students in every class, to help encourage further reading and discussion:
