Helen Skelton Olympic Visit ( Published: 17/07/2012)

Helen Skelton surprises students by visiting the school with the Olympic Torch.

Whalley Range students got the chance to meet Blue Peter presenter Helen Skelton when she dropped in recently with the Olympic Torch.

Helen, 28, met our girls and took part in a question and answer session with chosen Sports Leaders.

Students were able to meet Helen and have their picture taken with the torch, which she ran part of the Olympic relay with in the build-up to London 2012.

The girls quizzed Helen on the relay and her other challenges, including kayaking the Amazon river and her incredible 500 mile South Pole trek.

Helen was really nice and it was great for the students to meet her. She wanted them to know that they can achieve amazing physical challenges and overcome any obstacles with the right attitude. The students were really inspired by her visit.
