Coronavirus Updates ( Published: 16/03/2020)

Following Public Health England advice, if any one person in any household has a persistent cough or fever, everyone living there must stay at home for 14 days.

Medical Help

NHS 111 can help if you have an urgent medical problem and you’re not sure what to do.

Please follow the usual procedures to report your daughter’s absence.

Stay at home if you have either:

  • A high temperature – this means you feel hot to touch on your chest or back (you do not need to measure your temperature)
  • A new, continuous cough – this means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours (if you usually have a cough, it may be worse than usual)

The symptoms are similar to other illnesses that are much more common, such as cold and flu. If your daughter has a continuous cough or a high temperature, follow normal school absence procedures, and everyone living in your household must stay at home for 14 days. It is important that you don’t send her to school and check if she needs medical help.

Children of Critical Workers and Vulnerable Children

From Friday 20 March 2020 schools, childcare and other educational settings are closed for everyone except children of critical workers and vulnerable children. Please see the governments guidance: Closure of Educational Settings.

If parents’ work is critical to the coronavirus response, their children will be prioritised for early years and education provision. The Government has published a list of Critical Workers.

Accessing eLearning Resources from Home

Please see the ‘Accessing eLearnng Resources from Home’ instructions (attached to this page), which explain how to access our VLE (FROG) and navigate to eLearning materials that have been prepared by your teachers.

Prevention is Better than Cure

There are various measures that people can use to reduce the spread of infection:

  • Wash your hands with soap and water often – do this for at least 20 seconds
  • Always wash your hands when you get home or into work/school
  • Use hand sanitiser gel if soap and water are not available
  • Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands) when you
    cough or sneeze
  • Put used tissues in the bin straight away and wash your hands afterwards
  • Try to avoid close contact with people who are unwell
  • Do not touch your eyes, nose or mouth if your hands are not clean
